What Will I Learn?

ARCH@USM provides graduates with an excellent platform for future graduate studies or a career in architecture and related fields. Students are provided with a well-rounded course of study including the following topics: Architectural Design, Environmental Systems, History of Architecture, Building Science and Technology, and Visualization. Alumni of our program typically track one of two paths upon graduation, directly to graduate school or employment in architecture or related industries. ARCH@USM allows the student to make a more informed decision about their future academic or career path.

ARCH@USM students are required to complete one internship before graduation, which is highly desired by future employers. ARCH@USM shares two-thirds of its courses with the Construction Management program which propels students towards the future of our industry, known as Design-Build. Design-Build is a collaborative approach to designing and constructing a building with a cooperative team of professionals, including architects, engineers, contractors, and constructors. Students have completed paid internships with the following companies and many more: Woodward Design-Build, Varnado Construction Management, Hensel Phelps, Mike Rozier Construction, Yates Construction, Spring Engineering, and Landry, Lewis, and Germany Architects.
